Adventures in Urban Gardening

I hid a few seeds in the earth. Watered. Waited. Was anything happening in the darkness? I felt foolishly hopeful.

Green garden anole on a garden post.

The handsomest anole.

A hand full of green beans with vines in the background,

A harvest of French pole beans. (AKA something I will forget in the fridge.)

A spiky orange and black caterpillar the Gulf Fritillary nibbles on a Passionvine.

A spiky friend of mine, the Gulf Fritillary caterpillar.

A purple fringed passionflower agains emerald green leaves.

Passionvine flowers will never not look like some stunningly beautiful alien life-form.

Vibrant orange and black Saltmarsh moth clings to a pot.

This Saltmarsh moth would like you to know that moths can be just as beautiful as butterflies and that moths are nighttime pollinators.

The artist is out in the garden while it rains on her watercolor painting of the runner bean vine.

My Irish soul reveled in the rain that patterned my painting.

Scarlet Runner Bean you have my heart. I will not eat your furry pods though. It’s a texture thing.

I love the garden at dusk. The mosquitos love me at dusk. And the garden loves us all.

A crow perches on a power line at dusk.

Ned the crow caws once more before flying off into the gathering darkness.
