Plein Air Painting : Caribbean House
Phew! I haven’t done any writing in the past two weeks but not because I’ve been sitting on my hands. Between a lovely visit from family and 4 (!) commissions I’ve hardly had a moment for anything but painting. How terrible right?! Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, but it’s still work and I get worn to the bone if I’m not careful to take a breather and rest…which is why I decided it was the perfect time to start a new project (hand hits forehead).
Some of you may remember my 100 Masks series created last year as part of the 100 Day Project. This year, in an effort to develop a regular sketchbook / art journaling habit I decided to do 100 days of sketchbooking. However ill advised the timing seemed at first, the project has been a refreshing source of experimentation and a much needed treat to paint something just for me.
For today’s sketchbook entry I visited one of my favorite places, the Naples Botanical Garden, and did some plein air painting. I’m really falling in love with on site sketching and painting! Naturally this new love requires a kit of new art supplies, which I’ve been only too happy to acquire ;) Post on the particulars of my sketchbooking kit to come, but to sum it up - adorable!
